PODCAST: KNAVE with Stoke indie author Jo Haywood
North Staffs News Editor Jerome chats with Stoke-on-Trent indie author Jo Haywood about Knave, her second book.
Jo tells Jerome about her long-standing passion for writing fiction, hints at her fascination with all things paranormal, and she plugs Stoke Indoor Market – where she used to be employed as manager.
WARNING: ADULT CONTENT. The interview contains swearing, and descriptions of abuse and violence.
Knave is the second in the Protector Series and follows from Jo’s debut novel Chaste, which introduced DC Zoe Tatton, and is also based in the fictionalised Hart Lane.
Chaste saw Zoe and her team on the hunt for a vicious killer who was mutilating young women and leaving them publicly with their identification wrapped in a red bow. Knave will pick up the story some minutes after the end of Chaste.
Discussing Knave, Jo said: “I can’t wait for people to get to know Zoe Tatton a little better. I put her and her team through the wringer in Chaste and Knave is no different. There’s something very dark in Hart Lane and they’ve only scratched the surface of what that might be.”
To celebrate the release of Knave, Jo is planning a Launch/Signing event at Stoke Indoor Market on Saturday 1 April from 10am to 12pm. Up to August 2022, Jo was the Manager of the Market and it holds a special place in her heart.
Jo said: “As an Indie Author, it was really important for me to market the book on my terms. I love the Market and the Traders there, so I asked Norma’s Books, one of the last independent book shops in Stoke-on-Trent, if I could launch from there and I was thrilled when Norma agreed.”
As well as being available at Norma’s Books in Stoke’s indoor market, Chaste can be ordered via
