NSN: Keele Uni's Earth Stories film festival, Trust's nature photo competition
North Staffs News & events in brief
The editor is back from his week-long Easter camping trip. Turns out sitting in a cold wet tent on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire, being buffeted by Storm Noa, is not conducive to writing newsletters.
“Sorry about that,” he says.
Your stunning local nature photo could be a prize winner
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has launched a competition to find 13 stunning nature photographs from across the county for a calendar, which will go on sale later this year.
The overall winning photographer bags a great prize too.
Looks like a fab opportunity to get out and about locally with your camera/posh smartphone.
Let’s give North Staffordshire a good airing in this competition!
Earth Stories film festival screens this coming weekend
You’re are invited to a student-led film festival this weekend, organised by Keele University, which will highlight the efforts to tackle the climate crisis around the world.
Earth Stories, a student-led film festival and competition from Keele’s School of Media and Film, has seen over 2500 entries submitted by young filmmakers from around the globe.
The international film festival will be held on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of April (Earth Day), and will present new and inspirational stories from filmmakers aged 16-25 addressing climate change and revealing pathways for a more sustainable future.
It’s taking place on campus at Keele on the Friday (just turn up), and at The Mitchell Arts Centre in Hanley on Saturday afternoon (FREE tickets needed for that).
Ale and The Vale runners joined by special guest on fundraiser
In case you missed this last week…
Port Vale Club President and former Manager John Rudge, surprised Vale fans on Easter Sunday, by turning up to the Crewe 10k to support them at the starting line of the race.
What a lovely fella.
He said: “I am so grateful to Port Vale supporters for their support over the years. I wanted to come along to this race to personally thank those from the Ale and Vale podcast for taking part and raising this money, as well as all of the other generous contributions towards the statue.”
Fundraising contributions to the John Rudge Statue through the Ale and Vale Podcast are now closed, raising a total of £1,600.
