Go 12 Days Wild this Festive Season
Embrace the winter by joining a festive initiative that encourages residents and businesses to connect with nature. The 12 Days Wild challenge, organised by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, invites participants from all over the county to add a touch of wildlife to the chilly season.
Running from Monday, December 25, to Friday, January 5, this initiative aims to brighten winter days through daily challenges that bring people closer to nature, even in cold and wet weather.
Engage in the 12 Days Wild challenge by incorporating one wild activity into your daily routine. Participants have the flexibility to choose their activities or can opt to follow daily inspirational emails filled with tips and ideas for connecting with wildlife.
Scientifically validated, spending time in nature has proven benefits for well-being. Whether it's a leisurely stroll in the park, observing starling murmurations, or creating natural art, there's a wide range of activities for everyone to enjoy.
By signing up, participants not only enhance their well-being but also contribute to nature through small, impactful changes.
Consider going plastic-free for the New Year, recycling Christmas cards, feeding local birds, or volunteering at a nearby nature reserve. These small actions collectively make a significant difference in supporting and preserving the natural environment.
Liam Geary-Baulch, Senior Community Activism Officer for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust said:
“12 Days Wild is a fantastic way to enjoy the winter season while also giving nature a helping hand. Not only is it great for connecting with nature, it also great for our wellbeing and helps inspire us during some of the season’s darker days. We hope many people will join in, and we can’t wait to hear about all the ways people have interacted with wildlife on their doorstep.”
