FRONTLINEdance invites children to join inclusive dance group
Children are invited to join Breakthrou’ Juniors, a fun and welcoming dance group run by integrated dance company FRONTLINEdance. The sessions are for children aged 7 – 12 years old, and are open for disabled and nondisabled children to try dancing in an inclusive and creative environment.
The sessions are led by experienced instructors from FRONTLINEdance, and give children the chance to dance with each other, developing skills in contemporary dance techniques and performance. Each participant is taught in a way that is personal to their ability level and communication needs within a group setting. The FRONTLINEdance team use open-ended instructions that allow children to respond creatively and artistically in a way that lets them work with their own unique bodies and communication methods, meaning everyone can take part and enjoy themselves.
The sessions currently take place every Thursday, 5.30-6.15pm, at St John’s Centre, Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 6QD. The sessions are run on a ‘pay what you can’ basis, with a suggested donation of £5 for those who are able.
Rachael Lines, Artistic Director at FRONTLINEdance, said: “The Breakthrou’ Juniors Group gives children a valuable chance to discover the joy of dance in a setting that’s welcoming, safe and inclusive – and fun! I’ve seen how current members of the group have grown from being involved, from becoming more confident and making friends to realising that dancing is something they can do and enjoy. There is no other group like this in the city, so we’re providing something that’s unique and worthwhile for children and their families. We’re always looking to welcome new members, so please get in touch if you’d like to be involved.”
